Gary Charles - Founding Director

Gary enjoyed a hugely successful professional playing career from 1987 to 2002, the majority of his appearances being for Nottingham Forest FC, Derby County FC, West Ham United FC and Aston Villa FC. He also played for SL Benfica, in the Portuguese Premier League. His ultimate goal was achieved in 1991 when he was capped twice for England.

Following his playing career, Gary enjoyed six years in player recruitment. This time was spent at Burnley FC, Ipswich Town FC and Sunderland AFC where he gained experience of the game from a new and very different perspective.


Gary holds a UEFA ‘A ‘Licence which enables him to coach throughout the UK and Europe. Knowledge of the sporting environment from so many aspects gives him an immense and invaluable skill-base as a mentor. His exposure at such a high level and his own very personal experiences provide him with significant insight into player health and welfare and enable him to offer relevant guidance and support.


Gary is the founder of GCSportsCare which provides advice and support for sports people who are experiencing a wide range of problems. His experience and knowledge has given him a desire and drive to help people when dealing with addictions, stress or anxiety and any other issues that arise in an athlete’s life. Alongside this, Gary is also the Sports Ambassador at Delamere Health Ltd and was the Director of Football at Nottingham University.
